You can allow apps to be used and disallow others that are not on the list, or vice versa, by using the Policy and/or Kiosk config files.
Please note that App Blocklist/Allowlist is only affected by the apps that have already been installed on your device or rolled out into your App Library.
Please click the link below to check the process of using App Blocklist/Allowlist on different type of devices:
For Android Device
Here are the steps to set up the App Blocklist/Allowlist:
1. Go to Admin Console > Policy or Kiosk > Policy & Kiosk Config Files > select an Android Config File > Edit
2. Click Add Apps to App Blocklist/Allowlist to start adding Apps
3. There are four methods to add the Apps into the allowlist..
If you are not able to find the App on the list, please use the Add by Package ID to add the application directly.
You may find the package ID on the Play Store URL, such as https://***.com/details?id=com.android.example
Or, you can just check with your developer if the App is not on the Play Store.
4. Once you have added the Apps, it will show on the list. After you save and apply the config file to the Android device, it will take effect as you set, hiding/uninstalling the blocked app or only showing the allowed apps.
For Windows Device
Here are the steps to set up the App Blocklist/Allowlist:
1. Go to Admin Console > Policy & Kiosk > Policy & Kiosk Config Files > select a Windows Config File > Edit
2. Click Add Apps to App Blocklist/Allowlist to start adding Apps
3. There are four methods to add the Apps into the allowlist.
If you are not able to find the App on the installed apps or the Organization App Library, please use Add Win32 apps or UWP apps to add the application directly:
- Add Win32 apps: You need to enter the App Name, Installation File Path and AUMID (AppID) to add this app.
- Add UWP apps: You need to enter the App Name and AUMID to add this app.
To obtain AUMID (AppID), you can download Find_AUMID.bat and right-click on the script and select Run as administrator to open the command prompt interface for this script. In the command prompt interface of the script, you will see the AUMIDs (AppID) of all installed applications on the device.
Note: If a Microsoft Defender SmartScreen prompt appears, click More info and then tap Run anyway.
You can also type the name of the specific app you want to get the AUMID for (e.g., typing Microsoft Edge will return the AUMID for Microsoft Edge). Then, copy the AUMID of the application and paste it on the AUMID column of the add apps popup, then click OK.
4. Once you have added the Apps, it will show on the list and press OK to proceed.
After you save and apply the config file to the Windows device, it will take effect as you set, which are the blocked apps or the allowed apps.
