[Guide] How to Enroll your Zebra device with StageNow?

StageNow, Zebra's staging tool, simplifies the creation of enrollment or provisioning profiles, facilitating seamless enrollment into AirDroid Business. 

Requirements:

• Create a Provisioning Template. If you have not created a Provisioning Template, please refer to this article.
• Zebra device running at least MX 8.0 and Android 8.0 or above with LifeGuard patch 7 or greater is installed
• Install Zebra StageNow on a Windows PC
• For Android Enterprise Enrollment, you need to register/bind with your Gsuite/company email. For more details, please refer to this article.

To enroll your Zebra device with StageNow, there are two methods available: Device Owner Enrollment and Android Enterprise (AE) Enrollment. For more details of both enrollment methods, you may refer to this article. Please refer to the following instructions below to enroll your device properly.

Device Owner Enrollment

1. Log in the Admin Console > Devices > Provisioning Templates > tap on the configure button next to a provisioning template > Select Device Owner > tap Download Config JSON for the StageNow application.

Note: You will find the Biz Daemon download URL on the JSON file.

2. Launch the StageNow application and click Create New Profile from the left-side menu to launch the profile wizard.

Note: You may need to enter your StageNow admin password you created while installing the StageNow tool.

3. From the Wizard, you will need to select MX 8.0 > select XpertMode > Create > enter the name of the profile > tap Start to proceed.

4. Select Wizard > add MDM Enrollment to Config > Switch to Settings > add Intent to Config > tap Add to proceed into StageNow Config.

5. Select Others on MDM Agent Type > select No, I want to Download the file to my device on Enroll Method > Select No on Download Config > tap Continue.

6. Enter a target path for the Biz Daemon app in Target Path and File Name on Device. For example, enter "/sdcard/download/Biz_daemon.apk".

Then, tap 3-dots next on Source File Location > select External > enter the Biz Daemon APK download URL obtained from the JSON file in Step 1 on Source path and File Name > tap Continue.

7. Tap Continue in Install MDM Agent > select No in Launch MDM.

8. Select Enroll a Device Owner > complete the following information and tap Continue to proceed:

• Package Name: com.sand.airdroidbiz
• Class Name: com.sand.airdroidbiz.receivers.AdminReceiver
• JSON File: Tap 3-dots to upload the JSON file obtained from the Step 1

9. Tap Complete Profiles > Select PDF417 for Staging Client and Test. You may provide instructions for the staging operator and tap Publish Now.

10. After that, tap Stage and you will generate a PDF file with the QR/Bar Code.

11. Power on your Zebra device and scan the QR/Barcode to enroll your device depends on the following scenarios:

• On Factory Default Devices: If your device is powered on and in a factory default state without any third-party apps or MDMs installed, open the StageNow app and scan the QR/Bar Codes sequentially to complete enrollment.
• On Factory Fresh/Reset Devices: If your device is factory fresh or reset, a barcode might be generated based on the MX version and device support, allowing you to bypass the GMS Android Setup Wizard. Afterward, open the StageNow app and scan the QR/Bar Codes one by one to complete enrollment.

After that, open Biz Daemon and grant all permissions for Biz Daemon. For more details of permissions, please refer to this article.

Android Enterprise (AE) Enrollment

1. Log in the Admin Console > Devices > Provisioning Templates > tap on the configure button next to a provisioning template > tap Android Enterprise > tap Download Config JSON for the StageNow application.

2. Launch the StageNow application and click Create New Profile from the left-side menu to launch the profile wizard.

Note: You may need to enter your StageNow admin password you created while installing the StageNow tool.

3. From the Wizard, you will need to select MX 8.0 > select XpertMode > Create > enter the name of the profile > Tap Create to proceed.

4. Select Settings > add Wi-Fi, FileMgr, AppMgr and Intent to Config > tap Add to proceed into StageNow Config.

5. You may specify additional settings on the Wi-Fi network or tap Continue to proceed.

6. Tap 3-dots > complete the following information and tap Continue to proceed:

• Staging Server: External
• Source Path and File Name: https://play.google.com/managed/downloadManagingApp?identifier=setup
• Target Path and File Name: Enter your desired file path. For example, enter "/sdcard/AndroidDevicePolicy.apk"

7. Select Upgrade > enter your desired APK file path on APK Path and Name. For example, enter "/sdcard/AndroidDevicePolicy.apk"

8. Select Enroll a Device Owner > complete the following information and tap Continue to proceed:

• Package Name: com.google.android.apps.work.clouddpc 
• Class Name: com.google.android.apps.work.clouddpc.receivers.CloudDeviceAdminReceiver
• JSON File: Tap 3-dots to upload the JSON file obtained from the Step 1

9. Tap Complete Profiles > Select PDF417 for Staging Client and Test. You may provide instructions for the staging operator and tap Publish Now.

10. After that, tap Stage and you will generate a PDF file with the Bar Code like this.

Power on your Zebra device and scan the barcode at the Google "Hi There" welcome page and complete the enrollment as instructed.

After that, open Biz Daemon and grant all permissions for Biz Daemon. For more details of permissions, please refer to this article.
